The problem with Wi-Fi devices
Every Wi-Fi device is a full client of your router. Home routers comfortably hold 20–30 clients; beyond that come dropouts, latency and "the bulb is not responding". A 60-device smart home over Wi-Fi means guaranteed problems, and fixing them means replacing network equipment, not bulbs.
Why Zigbee behaves in the opposite way
Zigbee is a mesh. Every mains-powered device — a relay, a socket, a lamp — not only receives commands but also repeats them onward. The more such devices in the home, the denser and more reliable the mesh becomes. That is the exact inverse of Wi-Fi. Zigbee also uses a different radio band and does not take bandwidth from your internet.
And what is Tuya?
Tuya is not a protocol but a platform: a huge number of devices from many factories ship under that badge, and they can be Wi-Fi or Zigbee. So "I bought Tuya" tells you nothing about how a device will behave. We specify Tuya devices in their Zigbee versions and, wherever possible, bring them onto the local network rather than the cloud.
The real question is where the logic lives
Even the right devices can be ruined by the wrong architecture. If your "switch everything off when leaving" scene executes in a manufacturer's cloud, it fails whenever the internet does, and stops forever if the service shuts down. So we put the brain locally — a Home Assistant server in your apartment. The scenes run in your home, not on somebody else's server.
The practical conclusion
For an apartment: Zigbee devices plus a local Home Assistant. Leave Wi-Fi for what it is good at — phones, laptops, tablets and the TV. A system built this way survives changing your ISP, losing internet, and a manufacturer leaving the market.
